Volodymyr Lytvyn: At Present Day, there are No Grounds for holding Extraordinary Parliamentary Elections, let alone Simultaneous Parliamentary and Presidential Elections
Staying in Chernihiv on 3 July 2009, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that "the requirements of the Party of Regions concerning amendments to the State budget are only a pretext for blocking the lectern".
He reminded of the fact that a working group was set up at the previous meeting to scrutinize the crucial issue determine the sources to cover the expenditures necessary for the raise of the living wage. However, its work was not efficient.
V.Lytvyn believes that "nobody is interested in a social law, as the reason for blocking the lectern will be invalid, if it is adopted in any version". "The conclusion is final the Party of Regions works jointly with the President to lead the country to the absurd and thus set the road to the authority free, especially by means of holding early parliamentary elections", - he stated.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "upholds such an action politically, understanding its temporal inevitability". However, he supposes that "one should be frank to state what the politicians are willing to achieve by their actions".
At the same time, Volodymyr Lytvyn stated that at present day, there were no grounds for holding extraordinary parliamentary elections, let alone simultaneous parliamentary and presidential elections.
